This was my favourite workaway experience in Thailand. The cultural exchange was amazing. I was able to practice and learn Thai, and become a part of Bird’s family as we shared meals with his amazing parents every day. The food was always delicious! I learned so many skills I never would have before, including working with bamboo and building structures from scratch.
The accommodation is simple, but has everything you need! There is no electricity in the cabin, but there is in the common area which is very close, 1 minute walk.
If you’re looking for a way to spend time in nature and reconnect with yourself, this is it. I woke up every morning to the most beautiful view of the mountain and rice fields!

Him, his family and friends are a perfect example of Thai hospitality, and I felt immediately like part of the family after only a few days. I was there during the preparation and planting of the rice fields, which I’m extremely grateful to have participated in. Additionally, the food his mom cooks is incredible, Pua is stunningly beautiful and really it’s just a very peaceful place to settle into and immerse yourself in the northern Thai culture.

First off, the farm’s location in the middle of the rice fields is breathtaking. The farm itself has good facilities and a really cozy and chill atmosphere. You can really tell that heart and soul has gone into creating a tranquil and comfortable environment. We really got along with Bird and of course his lovely parents. They are all really interested in teaching their skills in crafts, farming, local foods and language. Bird is a super chill and cool guy with an admirable vision of carrying on traditional Thai farming. We also did work planting rice in the rice fields which was very insightful. Bird is totally open to learning by doing, which was great for us. We also worked in his Pizza restaurant some evenings, and it was interesting serving the Thai tourists who came from Bangkok to see this traditional farm life up north.

When we had days off we went to explore Pua, which was a truly unique chance to see parts of northern Thailand that we otherwise wouldn’t.

Bird and his parents were really hospitable and helpful and his mom cooks the best northern Thai dishes!

If you come here, you’ll be with Bird and his parents, all very kind and hardworking people that integrate you into farm/guesthouse work from the first moment. Even though I had to get used to long working days, I appreciated being part of this place and catching a glimpse of the various tasks of farm and guesthouse life.
The kind of farm work you do as volunteer depends on the season. You will definitely carry out some “housekeeping” tasks for the guesthouse, help with the pizza restaurant at night, and look after the two fat cuties Tony &Laura (buffaloes).
Thank you bird & family for being such lovely hosts, very patient with introducing me to a lot of tasks I had never done before.

I stayed about one week there. I learn a lot about permaculture, farm live, Thai culture, food. The work was fun and pleasant, sometimes it was more duties. I was sleeping on separate dormitory house which was lovely. 3meals a day provided by Brid’s mother. The food was so delicious, real Thai food and mother was very welcoming and you could feel like home. At the farm there are 3 buffalo- that was my first time I saw it! I really recommend this kind of experience if you like nature and you’re interested in permaculture’s projects. Bird was very helpful, patiently explaining everything, it was so good to spend time with him. Wish you all the best!

Adisak built really nice place where you can enjoy nature and beautiful scenery. He has many ideas on how to improve this place, so you will be able to help him with it. His mother cook very unique traditional northern food, vegetarian but tasty! On a farm there are two buffalos, and you’ll take care of it, and also ride it if you want! But the most amazing experience for me is making pizza along with Chef Adisak. This place is cool and unique. so if you like permaculture, nature and want to find a quiet place to stay, it’s definitely for you!

We stayed with Bird almost 10 days and our last day we made a trip to the mountains and to the waterfall. The work doesn´t need special skills – you must be just happy with the work We worked from Monday to Saturday, the only day off is Sunday and on Saturday afternoon is free time – after 3 hours working on the farm. At 7:30 is breakfast, from 9 to 12 we worked at the farm and after lunch we had a break. You can just take a rest on the farm, or you can walk to the city to find coffee and wifi (there is no wifi on the farm). And from 4 to 6 we worked again on the farm. The food from Bird´s mom is amazing! We already miss the colourful choices of food Bird is extremely friendly, kind and happy person, he loves working out and it was always fun to work with him!

I stayed for 9 nights and truly the experience itself was an eye-opener. It was my first hands in rendering help with farming and building a wall for an outdoor shower. I do not have the skills but you will learn from the host (Bird), his kind father who also work in the farm and other volunteers on how to get things done.

The stay experience was special, there’s no electricity in the showers, WC and accommodation so you learn to live, be close to nature & reflect how primitives live in ancient times. So do bring your headlights! There’s no wifi so you be minimising yourself from the digital era. Only the kitchen has it electricity and power plug.

Bird’s mom is an amazing cook, and always so giving, cheerful and hardworking. On my departure day, though I did not work, she thoughtfully prepared a snack bag for me and another couple to take away.

Bird is a simple, humble and kind host. He’s easy to work for and with, always try to help whenever when not too tired! : )

Bird is so lovely – he really made us feel so welcome and is always eager to help and talk about the farm and the project. He has an excellent laugh!!!!

I helped build a clay oven, a stone wall, dig trenches for irrigating vegetable patches, plant seeds, watering trees/beds, look after the beautiful water buffalo!!

We spent a few nights in the dormitory and then moved into a treehouse in the second week which was lovely. It felt great to be so close to nature every day.

The work can be physically hard but you have a long break in the middle of the day when it is too hot to work, and it feels good to work up an appetite and then eat the delicious food, nap in hammocks, eat ice cream, go for a walk, and then work again for a few hours in the evening.

I definitely want to return in the future to see the progress of the farm.
